Dance Shoes and Clothing: What We Recommend

When it comes to dance practice, proper clothing and footwear is key. At Dance Fever Studio on the North Shore, we offer the following suggestions for what to wear to your first few ballroom dance lessons, and beyond.

If you're just starting out, there's no need to purchase specialty ballroom shoes or practice wear, as these can get rather expensive; chances are, you'll find something that will work right in your own closet.

Ballroom Competitions: What to Expect

Ballroom competitions are truly exciting events that draw participants and spectators of all ages. There are numerous local and regional Dancesport competitions that are held in Boston every year. Among these are the Yankee Classic in June, the Eastern Dancesport Competition in January, and others. There are a number of prestigious college-hosted competitions as well, including the Harvard University Invitational, the Brown University Ballroom Competition, and the MIT Open Ballroom Dance Competition (these are open to participants 14 years of age and older).
