Dance Clothing: What We Recommend

Dance Clothing: What We Recommend

Dressing for dance can be lots of fun, and make you feel that much more in "character." If you're just beginning, however, the most important thing is to dress in something that feels right to you. Always dress comfortably; stretchy knits and breathable fabrics are best. Avoid restrictive clothing, but be sure that it's not too loose or baggy - your teacher should be able to see your movements easily. For ladies, leggings or flouncy skirts are good choices; really, anything you feel comfortable in and that accentuates your movement is best. Men may want to wear relaxed slacks and a short sleeve shirt or t-shirt. As dance can be rigorous exercise, short sleeves and sleeveless shirts are always recommended for men and ladies.
