International Latin

Latin Ballroom offers a spicier side to ballroom dance. In the world of Dancesport, there are five Latin dances: Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive. Most of these originated in Spanish and Latin American cultures, with the exception of Jive (it started right here in the U.S.). Variations of these can be danced both socially and competitively; it was when some of these dances were brought to Europe that they evolved into the ballroom form we know today. Unlike International Standard, partners do not remain in closed hold; the emphasis is on rhythm throughout the body, and quick foot and leg action is key.
At Dance Fever Studio Marblehead, we introduce you to the basic figures of each Latin dance, with emphasis on both style and technique. We might begin with Cha Cha and Rumba; once you're feeling comfortable with some basic rhythms, we might move on to Jive (and so on). Most importantly, we make it fun, and strive to match your learning style. You'll be thrilled to see just how quickly you'll become comfortable with your steps!
Here's a bit about the Latin Ballroom dances taught at Dance Fever Studio on the North Shore (Marblehead, MA).
